CSARE Fact Sheet
Mission: Promoting an agricultural research and education system that supports
farmers and ranchers, rural communities, community based food systems and
environmental stewardship through individual, institutional and policy level
work.
Your Member Dues Supports CSARE’s Pioneering Work:
- CSARE believes that today’s students are tomorrow’s faculty,
extension educators, deans and directors in our public research and extension
system. We advise and support the newly formed North Central Network
of Sustainable Agriculture Students and are creating a graduate- level Sustainable
Agriculture Fellows Program.
- CSARE recognizes outstanding researchers in sustainable
agriculture through its annual 7th Generation Award.
- CSARE is engaged in a national initiative to target and increase
funding for research and technical assistance to mid-sized farms and agricultural
food enterprises.
- CSARE is teaming-up with scientific societies to cultivate
their members’ growing interests in sustainable agriculture and community-based
food systems. CSARE will be leading roundtable discussions at the Tri-Societies
(Soils Science, Agronomy and Crop Science) 7,000 member annual meeting.
- CSARE recruits and promotes sustainable agriculture advocates
to influential federal policy and decision-making bodies and peer review panels.
- CSARE publishes Inquiry in Action, an electronic news magazine
featuring cutting-edge sustainable agriculture research and education efforts
around the nation. (www.csare.org)
